Nearby transport hubs
Kruševo is the highest town in North Macedonia and is located on the western side of the Pelagonia valley. It is about two hours by car from Skopje, the capital city of North Macedonia.
For those traveling from farther afield, regional airports in Belgrade, Sofia, and Thessaloniki are also within a few hours’ drive from North Macedonia.
Airport Transfer Service
The organisation has made plans to assist pilots travelling to Krusevo from Skopje airport by providing a transfer service at a competitive cost. There are just two or three time slots available at times spaced to limit waiting times. A similar service is available at the end of the event from Krusevo to Skopje.

By air
Booking your flight early is recommended to get the best prices. However, please don’t pay for your flights until you are sure that you have a confirmed place in the event!
The drive from Skopje Airport to Kruševo takes around two hours. While public transportation options are available, the Fly Wide Open team will be arranging dedicated airport transfers for pilots from Skopje to Kruševo on the Friday and Saturday before registration and back to Skopje on the final Sunday.
Using this transfer service may mean waiting at the airport for an hour or two for other pilots to gather. If this is inconvenient then please feel free to make alternate plans.
The event airport transfers will be priced separately, and places must be booked on one of the transfer options. We will contact selected pilots closer to the event to confirm the transfer fee and offer the option to join our dedicated airport transfer service. Collection times will be published in the weeks prior to the event.
By train
An international train runs twice daily between Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Thessaloniki (Greece), passing through North Macedonia. It stops at Tabanovce (the Macedonia-Serbia border), Skopje, Veles, Gradsko, and other smaller stations. From Skopje, Veles, or Gradsko, you can take a train to Prilep, which is just 35 km from Kruševo.
By bus
Several public bus routes connect North Macedonia with neighbouring countries and major European cities. The buses are reliable, air-conditioned, and offer affordable fares. Most services to and from North Macedonia depart or arrive at Skopje Bus Station.
By car
If you’re driving, the E-75 international highway runs north-south through North Macedonia, connecting Serbia to Greece. Kruševo is about a two-hour (160 km) drive from Skopje Airport via the A1 Motorway. If you’re coming from Ohrid Airport, it’s about a 1.5-hour drive (119.7 km) via E65 and R1305.
Car hire
Several car rental agencies operate in North Macedonia, including international companies like Sixt, Avis, and Hertz, as well as local companies like Biveks, Mn, and Ni-Mar Komerc. Prices typically start from around 50 euros per day, with discounts for longer rentals.
You’ll need a valid passport and a driver’s license from your home country to rent a car.
Driving tips
Roads in North Macedonia are generally in good condition, but be cautious of falling rock zones in the mountains and stray animals like dogs, cows, or sheep in rural areas. Note that using a mobile phone while driving is illegal, seatbelts are mandatory, and headlights must be on during the day.
